When you live in the Carolinas, you often get used to the many storms that are encountered in the area. Just because we can overlook the storms doesn’t mean that we should grow used to overlooking the damage that these storms can cause to our roofs! Roof damage can be obvious or subtle, but it’s often up to you to take those initial steps to ensure the most recent storm didn’t cause roof damage. Here are some signs of roof damage that you can visually inspect from the ground to determine if you sustained roof damage during the most recent storm.
- Dings or Dents in the Gutters– These signs are usually indicators of hail damage. While hail is usually harmless, when it grows in size, obviously, the potential for damage grows as well. Hail can be rough on asphalt shingles, since it can knock off the protective layer of asphalt and lead to leaks.
- Shingles Blown Off or Twisted- When you have severe winds, even the strongest of shingles can withstand the pressure for only so long! If you have sections of shingles that are gone, bent or twisted, you’ll need a professional roof repairman to come in to assess and repair the damage. Without the shingles, there is nothing to prevent water from leaking into your property.
- Debris- When storms knock off tree branches or even entire trees onto your property, you need to call in an expert immediately. Not only does this type of debris cause damage, but when large enough, it can damage the structural integrity of your roof line.
At Carolinas Best Roofing, we would be happy to do a more thorough inspection of your roof if you see any of these signs of roof damage. Just give us a call, and let us take care of you.
